Archeopark
This unique attraction is situated just outside Karviná itself (though partly in the municipal district of Karviná-Louky), and its status as a national cultural monument reflects its huge popularity among visitors. The Archeopark is located at the former site of a Slavic hill-fort which was active from the mid-8th century to the 11th century. The area is a site of major archeological importance, and archeologists are still digging there. The Archeopark is a unique replica of the original hill-fort, built without modern technologies, using only the materials and techniques that were used at the time. The whole complex gives visitors a vivid idea of what our ancestors’ lives were like more than a millennium ago. Particularly popular are the various events and festivals held at the Archeopark, including demonstrations of old Slavic life.
